Mahanaim FC returned to winning ways on Saturday after a comfortable 3-0 victory over N-Youth Academy.
Following the goalless draw in their last match against Fine Trust FA, Mahanaim strikers rediscovered their scoring form by putting three goals past NLO Division One campaigners N-Youth Academy. Successive goals from Babale Abdullahi, Mamoudou Batchily, and Odenigbo Emmanuel were enough to dispatch their opponents at the Mahanaim Arena.
Despite finishing the game with 10 men due to the dismissal of second choice goalkeeper Yau Muritala, who received a red card, Mahanaim FC maintained composure to see out a comfortable result. The Hot Boys were unperturbed by the rain as they dominated possession in the first half, doing everything except scoring.
Starting his first match of the season, winger Babale Abdullahi opened the scoring, which was quickly followed by a solo goal from Batchily Mamoudou. Emmanuel Odenigbo sealed the victory as the Hot Boys stunned N-Youth with three goals in five minutes to close the contest.
After the match, coach Saheed Jimoh attributed the performance to the extra work done on the training ground:
“It was a great match and great performance from our boys. N-Youth is a very good team but we came into the game needing to exhibit what we've learnt.
We did a lot of work on the training ground to correct all the lapses noticed in the previous game, especially our finishing. As you can see today we scored three and we even had to deploy another formation. It was a good performance and we continue to improve.”
